Question: How is this pipe colored? Is it the wax that is applied. I know when you smoke a white meerschaum pipe it will develop a patina from the tobacco. Will this pipe get darker brown in time? Just curious how this color will change over time with particular shade of brown.

Answer:This pipe was dipped into the darkest shade of bee's wax. After the carving process, we sand meerschaum pipes with 4 different grits of sand paper to give a smooth look and a shiny finish.

After the sanding process, we dip our pipes into natural bee's wax for at least two times to give strenth and top create a protection on the outer surface of the pipe as well as to give a shiny finish.

Bee's wax is found in many different shades in the nature, this pipe was dipped into the darkest color bee's wax and it was left in the boiling hot dark bee's wax wax for a while that the outside of the pipe absorbed it well enough to reach this color.

During this process, in side of the pipe is protected by placing a wine cork so the bee's wax doesn't get in the pipe.

When we come to your question about the onservation of the color change; you will not observe any color difference until the pipe's color get to the same level.

Meerschaum pipes are expected to get darker if they are used regularly. Once the coloration from smoking gets darker then the pipe's original brown color you will start seeing your pipe is getting darker. Well used meerschaum pipes become deep dark cherry in years, these brown pipes will get the same dark cherry color but it may take for a while for you to start the change on a dark-finish pipe. Depending on your smoking frequency it may take from a few months to a few years for you to see that some parts of the pipe are getting darker.
