Q&A - Coloring process of Meerschaum Pipes and Bee's Wax

Posted by Burak Servi on 27th Jan 2022

Question:

Good Morning,

I have been debating about buying a meerschaum pipe and have a quick question for you. I understand you have to periodically re- beeswax the pipe. How often does one have to do this realistically, and what is the benefit. By the way I have looked at your website and you have some outstanding pipes.

Thank You,

Greg S from MN

Answer:

Good Afternoon Greg,

Thank you so much for your email. There is no need to periodically re-beeswax yor meerschaum pipe. At the same time it won't harm the meerschaum pipe too.

If you bee's wax your meerschaum pipe it will exaggerate or boost the coloring process. Mostly people like to leave it to the natural coloring process but some customers like to see the result sooner.

I don't know if it is a good example or not but imagine getting sun-tan under normal sunlight and under normal conditions v.s. putting on booster creams ect and get the whole summer season result in a few days or weeks. They are both okay depending on your choice.

Thank you so much for your kind words about our website, I appreciate it.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

All the best,
